The book is interspersed with solved problems for a sound understanding of the various aspects of power plant engineering. The chapter-end questions are intended to provide the students with a thorough reinforcement of the concepts discussed.

Kindle version does not contain diagrams or images

The book has great information, but every reference to a diagram is fruitless since the Kindle version does not include the diagrams. This makes conceptualizing certain ideas very difficult and it breaks the flow of understanding the topics in the book. This seems to be a common issue with technical books available via Kindle as I have run into this before. I don't understand why a publisher would issue a book this way since it is incomplete. Even if the price is lower, the description should indicate that no pictures or diagrams are provided in the Kindle version, so the only reason then to buy the Kindle version is to say you did, but not to fully make use of the book.

About the Author

James N. Danziger is a Research Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Irvine, where he also has served as Chair of the Department of Political Science, campus-wide Dean of Undergraduate �Education, and Chair of the Academic Senate. He is recipient of many honors and awards, including a Marshall Scholarship (to Great Britain), a Foreign Area Fellowship, Woodrow Wilson Fellowship, Phi Beta Kappa, and an IBM Faculty Award. He received the first UC Irvine Distinguished Faculty Lectureship Award for Teaching in 1987, the UC Irvine Distinguished Service Award in 1997, and the campus’ highest honor, the Extraordinarius Award in 2009. His Ph.D. is from Stanford University, and he has held visiting appointments at the universities of Aarhus (Denmark), Pittsburgh, and Virginia. His research has received awards from the American Political Science Association and the American Society for Public Administration. He has published extensively, particularly on information technology and politics, and been an active participant in local politics.

Charles Anthony Smith received his PhD in political science from the University of California-San Diego (2004) and his JD from the University of Florida (1987). He is an Associate Professor at the University of California-Irvine. His books include The Rise and Fall of War Crimes Trials: from Charles I to Bush II (NY: Cambridge University Press, 2012), and Globalizing Human Rights (NY: Routledge 2014). He has published articles in Law & Society Review, Political Research Quarterly, Justice System Journal, International Political Science Review, Judicature, Journal of Human Rights, Election Law Journal, Studies in Law, Politics & Society, Human Rights Review, Journal of International Relations & Development among other journals and published chapters in edited volumes with Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, and University of Pennsylvania Press, among others. He has served as guest editor for special issues of the Journal of Human Rights and Human Rights Review. His research considers the role of courts, law, and litigation in the contestation over a variety of types of rights. He considers this unifying research theme using a variety of methodologies in the context of the United States, in comparative contexts, and in the realm of international relations and globalization. He has won a variety of awards for both his teaching and research.

i use this dictionary for studying at home and school. its very conveniently sized and the print is a nice standard print for legibility

within the dictionary itself it has a section for hiragana and katakana charts, their is NO romaji and while that may disappoint people that only need this for quick lookup and arnt planning on going in depth on the language, it encourages you to learn the alphabet and realistically NOBODY can actually learn japanese properly without being able to read at least hiragana and katakana .

inside the dictionary it has a section that teaches things like 1. how to say foods 2. very basic phrases 3. japanese particles 4.how to say and write numbers 5. saying dates month and the year and etc etc
as well has a table for verbs that is pretty informative

though be warned you may need a magnifying glass if you need to write down how to write a word with a kanji as due to the text being averagely small the complexity of the kanji might make it hard for some people to make out what it is . so if it feels like something that would bother you id also try to find a book separate for kanji

i cant find anything to really complain about. i say its an essential!, specially if you want something portable enough to fit in a jacket pocket. its helped me out alot and i would 100% recommended

The book not being edited was not a good thing for me. It took away from the reading and too many times I had to re-read a sentence in order to understand what was going on. I myself was very disappointed. Omar is one of my favorite authors and my Book Club choice yearly. It was definitely a good discussion but not in the positive this time. Donna-AK

I love Omar tyree but I must say it had lots of errors and it seemed rushed, he developed the characters in such depth all the cliff hangers have led me to believe there will be a sequel " More Corruption"

For example, which type of capitalism engages in job-threatening innovation? Whose innovation widens income inequality? Whose innovation raises productivity? Which type of capitalism has more effective financial markets for innovation? Whose innovators emphasize 'control' rather than 'flexibility' during innovation?

By addressing these questions, the author demonstrates that the way nations innovate often has deep, and sometimes counter-intuitive, implications for how they compare in many areas of socio-economic performance. For example, although venture capital is most active in Anglo-Saxon economies, it seems that venture-capital performance in stimulating innovation is also poorest in precisely these countries. On the issue of employment, the author argues that, whilst technological innovation in Anglo-Saxon economies creates jobs, innovation in European economies destroys jobs. Nations also differ in the nature of income inequality driven by innovation. While innovation pushes top earners further ahead of median earners in Anglo-Saxon economies, it drags bottom earners further behind the median in European economies. Finally, varieties of capitalism also differ in their ability to cope with the volatilities of innovation. While Anglo-Saxon economies face a trade-off between low volatility and high innovation output, these two goals seem jointly achievable in European economies.

About the Author

Jingjing Huo is an Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science, University of Waterloo. He obtained his PhD in Political Science from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. His research focuses on the political economy of advanced industrialized countries, especially technological innovation and labor market policies. He has published a book with Cambridge University Press (2009) on labor market policies in advanced industrialized countries, as well as various articles on technological innovation and social policies, in journals such as Comparative Political Studies, Socio-Economic Review, and Journal of European Social Policy.
