A Must for All wondering of the Nature of Money and Capital....

This book is thought-provoking and brings together theories of Capital, Interest, Money, and a variety of other topics. Professor Taylor's quest for a macroeconomic analysis of the economic framework will lead all of you to understand many things that you may have had questions about. For those with majors in Economics and/or Finance, this book is a must, and I guarantee that, if you try, you will most certainly learn something from it. This work is in my opinion comparable to that of Schumpeter and Keynes--giving analysis to better our understanding of the macroeconomic framework. A warning though-this book must be read and re-read for a complete understanding, for it can get tiring to follow along when almost every sentence makes a new point. It is well worth the effort, however, because the knowledge you will gain will equal that of the time you spend reading it. Buy it NOW!!

I was stunned by the creative thinking that Dr Taylor displayed in his seminal work on capitalism. He may well be the most brillaint and innovative thinker of this decade in terms of economic and capital theory. My hope is that as many people as possible expose themselves to his creative intellect; no one who does will regret it.

Wonderful Prologue to Eastern Approaches

This book is a wonderful prologue to the fine book Eastern Approaches. A great historical reminder that what we find in the Middle East today is simply a continuation of what Vambery found in 1869 or so. America's foreign policy, so twisted by hubris and the myth of "American Exceptionalism," could benefit from a historical perspective and a dose of realpolitik. Perhaps then, America would not rush in where angels fear to tread.

This is the Book I Needed

I just received Windows 10 Simplified by Paul McFedries. And it has already helped me understand how to solve a problem with Windows 10 that I was having. This book is very well written, nicely illustrated and easy to use with both a table of contents and an index. The title might suggest that the information in the book could be one of those 'talk down' publications for computer newbies, but it is certainly more than that without being overly technical or full of nerdy words and jargon that only experts can decipher.
The book is well organized and provides sections specific to subject areas like 'getting started', 'email', 'Working with pictures', 'Surfing the Web and 'Customizing the System'. I found clearly presented instructions for all of the major features unique to Windows 10.
This is an excellent source for those seeking to get the best from the new operating system during the startup stages as well as a place to find help with specific subjects at any time.

Literally, "A Picture is WORTH a Thousand Useless Words!"

Okay, I ordered this book because I am a VERY visual learner and after I abandoned the "Windows 10 for Dummy's book", I was desperate to learn this new system beyond the most rudimentary of knowledge. For people like ME, I absolutely NEED basic because I have to learn to crawl before I walk or run.

See, I'm a landscape architect. I deal in "absolutes" my entire day: soil, sun, water, shovels, hoses, etc. There are HUGE landscape companies that are friends of mine that STILL have no computer in their office and do all their billing by hand and all of their appointments, etc. with paper and pen! So, I have a really good excuse for NOT KNOWING BASIC ANYTHING regarding computers and I am delighted with this book!

First, IT'S IN COLOUR!!! I'm visual...me like colour! Second, if you know ANYTHING, when the book shows you what a "mouse pointer" looks like, you feel SMART, which encourages you to learn more. Third, for those of us that this book was designed for, you'll feel like a frickin' Whiz Kid, when you get done with even one chapter! I've flipped through the entire book beyond chapter one and I had NO IDEA that so many features were available.

My 'down season' is Winter, so that's when I plan on going page by page each day. After that time, I'll come back and update my review, but for now, I'm beyond DELIGHTED with the concept and the chance to teach 'this old dog some very new tricks!'

Excellent Undergrad Text

Overall this is an excellent text for an undergraduate level course. It is the 3rd book on the subject that I've read and the best of the lot. It is much more conprehensive than the others, but does not get into the details of some graduate level books.

The content deserves a 5 star, but I gave it 4 stars overall because of a couple shortcomings. The graphics don't convey the 3 dimensionality of the anatomy. All of my anatomy texts do a far better job representing internal structures, and this becomes extremely important.

2nd, there are some areas overemphasized, some omissions, and a problem with the order of presentation. The chapter on attention tells me that one of the authors researches in this area. Sorry, it doesn't warrant a chapter. You know you're on the wrong track when you spend an entire page just explaining the minutiae of a single experiment. Second, there was no mention of intelligence. Yes it's a hotbutton issue. No excuse for ignoring it. Finally, issues were raised, such as fear or emotions, that use the same structure. It would be helpful to discuss the anatomy in more detail early on instead of introducing structures piecemeal.

Overall an excellent book.

Basic Overlook of Neuroscience

This book is really good for a general understanding of neuroscience and it has good pictures. This is really a beginning undergraduate level book and can be used as supplemental material for basic concepts when a student is starting to become more advanced, but it does not go into much detail. It is well-written and consequently easy to read. If you're looking for an introduction to neuroscience this is a good book. If you're looking for a reference book for higher level neuroscience this book won't meet standards.

Perfect Textbook

This is a wonderful textbook, and like only a very few others I have read, is well written and interesting enough to be read as an excellent book. It is quite difficult to put down and I think most readers will find themselves reading more than is required for their class or reading it for pleasure alone. It is not a complete exhaustive reference on every topic in neuroscience, but it does not pretend to be (and I think it would lose some of its appeal to the intended audience if it did). For example, the brief mention of glial cells in chapter 2 was a little disappointing, then again, I have a textbook of close to a thousand pages on glial cells alone, but I think a little more coverage could have been given. But, there are additional resources given, which allows interested students to further explore concepts they have been introduced to in this text.

There is something to be said for a text that can be read cover to cover, with little strain, and give the reader a clear overview of the field.
