About the Author
Nicolas T. Taylor is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified Addictions Counselor, practicing in the rural areas of western Colorado. A member of the Colorado state methamphetamine task force, he is also Treatment Workgroup Chair for the National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children. His earlier roles have included facilitating therapy groups for inmates/substance abusers at Utah State Prison, and teaching at the West Slope CASA Addictions Counselor Certification Training Consortium, as well as at Mesa State College. A nationally recognized expert on methamphetamine treatment, he has also been an instructor at Brigham Young University and has presented talks as well as training sessions at the Colorado Department of Human Services Methamphetamine Symposium, the annual Drug Endangered Children Conference in Washington, D.C., and the Indian Health Services Annual Behavioral Health Conference.
Herbert C. Covey is the Deputy Director of the Adams County Social Services Department in Colorado and part-time instructor at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He has written numerous academic books and articles and is the editor of The Methamphetamine Crisis (Praeger, 2006).

best book on dealing with meth addiction thus far

I appreciate that the author has very effectively described the circumstances the meth addict has to deal with and offers guidance to those wishing to help provide the recovering addict a satisfying role in the sober community. Often repeats the basic concepts, maybe an acknowledgement that some of the individuals using the book may have cognitive impairments that are best addressed with repetition of simple clear concepts. Feel that he finds a good constructive balance between describing the difficulty of leaving the meth community and illuminating a realistic path potentially leading to a satisfying life in the sober community. At this point, in rural MN, the sober society is still not inclined to reach out to the addict that wants to leave his or her addiction behind. At every turn, the sober society is the addict's enemy, wanting to take their children and put the addicts in jail. If the society doesn't make a significant effort to help recovering addicts join the sober society, they are practically forced to remain within the society that does accept them. Thank you for the book.
